Background to my interest in teaching children with autism

On Spousal Abuse, continued

The website of PAAO (Parental Alienation Awareness Organization) contains the the following statement: “With awareness comes education and understanding, and the power to stop the abuse of innocent children caught in the crossfire of people they love.”  Personally, I think that is optimistic.  Nevertheless, it behooves those involved in spousal abuse, both victim and abuser, to educate themselves about all of the issues involved, so that they are in a better position to try to keep their children from being hurt, either by themselves or by their ex-partner.

In the meantime – while waiting for the world to be the way we think it should be – try to remember that everyone is doing the best that they can, given their nature and nurture, their genetics and upbringing.  As discussed earlier, everyone always does what he or she believes to be the best thing to do at any given moment of time.  We are always a perfect product of everything that has brought us to where we are.  If that is not the way we want things to be, the challenge is to figure out how we can make things better.
