Gibert and Sullivan

Gibert and Sullivan

Yesterday, Joyce and I took a trip into Toronto to see the North Toronto Players’ production of Chelsea Moor Castle (or The Contract to Marry), a new musical inspired by Gilbert and Sullivan and based primarily on an updated versions of lyrics taken from their many operettas. It was wonderfu! Written by Michael Harms and Barb Scheffler, with music under the direction of John Ricciardelli, the play is “classic Gilbert and Sullivan.” It runs almost three hours (including intermission) and is a fitting tribute to the immense talents of this remarkable community theatre group on its fiftieth anniversary. I sincerely hope that they will videotape this production and make it available to a much wider audience through television.
