Autism as a Medical Condition

Autism as a Medical Condition for which there is an Educationl Treatment.

Autism is generally considered to be a neurologically based condition, defined largely by a deficit in social communication, for which there is no medical cure. Treatment is primarily educational – ABA-based (Applied Behaviour Analysis based) remedial education – if something is not learned automatically and you want it to be learned, you have to teach it. Why is this treatment not covered under our health insurance? Is it because it is educational? I don’t see why that would matter.
