Teaching Children with Autism, continued

It is recommended that you set up a program binder in which to keep written materials related to your child’s program. Typically, it will contain:

  • Any assessment reports.
  • An individualized service plan, containing basic identifying information, a summary of the child’s exceptionalities (including any relevant medical and assessment information), a clear and specific statement of your child’s strengths and needs, and a list of current and mastered teaching targets.
  • A section for each part of the curriculum, e.g., fine and gross motor skills, mands, tacts, intraverbals, play skills, social skills, daily living skills, etc., etc.
  • Program tracking sheets.
  • Lesson summaries / communication log.
  • Graphs
  • Notes
